Evaluation of Nano Fluids with Minimum Quantity Lubrication in Turning of Ni-Base Superalloy UDIMET 720

چکیده

This article focuses on turning superalloy Udimet 720, which is difficult to work with, using different coolant/lubricant methods. The study includes delivering Graphene and Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes nanopowders homogeneously dispersed in vegetable oil the cutting area with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) method. Experiments at speeds feed rates were repeated four environments. Compared dry turning, zone temperature of fluid delivered by MQL methods decreased. In addition, thanks nanopowders, it formed an film better penetrating tool-chip interface reducing tool’s wear. With reduced tool wear, could maintain its form for a longer period time, so quality surfaces obtained workpiece surface. As result study, was found that improved 30%, wear 51.8% surface roughness 43.9%.

Analysis of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) for Different Coating Tools during Turning of TC11 Titanium Alloy

The tool coating and cooling strategy are two key factors when machining difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium alloy. In this paper, diamond coating was deposited on a commercial carbide insert as an attempt to increase the machinability of TC11 alloy during the turning process. An uncoated carbide insert and a commercial Al₂O₃/TiAlN-coated tool were also tested as a comparison. Furthermo...

MICROSTRUCTURE VARIATION EFFECTS ON ROOM TEMPERATURE FATIGUE THRESHOLDS AND CRACK PROPAGATION IN UDIMET 720Li Ni-BASE SUPERALLOY

An assessment of the effects of microstructure on room temperature fatigue threshold and crack propagation behaviour has been carried out on microstructural variants of U720Li, i.e. as-received U720Li, U720Li-LG (large grain variant) and U720Li-LP (large intragranular coherent γ′ variant). Fatigue tests were carried out at room temperature using a 20Hz sinusoidal cycling waveform at an Rratio=0...

Optimization of Minimum Quantity Liquid Parameters in Turning for the Minimization of Cutting Zone Temperature

The use of cutting fluid in manufacturing industries has now become more problematic due to environmental pollution and health related problems of employees. Also the minimization of cutting fluid leads to the saving of lubricant cost and cleaning time of machine, tool and work-piece. The concept of minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) has come in to practice since a decade ago in order to overco...
